Hajj: FCT begins pilgrims’ airlift two's ago
The Federal Capital Territory Muslim
Pilgrims’ Welfare Board has invited its intending pilgrims scheduled for
the first flight and second flight to report to the permanent hajj camp
on Thursday for the collection of their travel documents in
preparation for their airlift to Saudi Arabia.
A statement from the Public Relations
Officer of the Board, Muhammad Lawal Aliyu, said the camp shall be
opened for the intending pilgrims scheduled for the first flight from 9
o’clock in the morning while those scheduled for second flight are to
report from 6 o’clock this evening.
The spokesperson said the board has pasted the flight manifests of all the pilgrims for this year’s exercise at its offices across the six area councils of the territory, its zonal office in Gwagwalada, the permanent Hajj Camp and the board headquarters located at the Central Area, Abuja.
Aliyu also disclosed that intending pilgrims should collect their Identity Cards from their area officers before proceeding to the camp as only those in uniform and with pilgrims’ Identity Card would be allowed to have access to the camp.
He, therefore, warned the pilgrims to adhere strictly to the flight schedule as any intending pilgrim who misses his/her flight should have him/herself to blame.
FCT Minister of State, Oloye Olajumoke Akinjide, is expected to bid the pilgrims farewell at the camp before their departure to the holy land.
A total of 2497 intending pilgrims are expected to perform the hajj through the Board this year.
